In between sit the cities, where after-work laps happen on pump tracks and concrete. So Bavaria is no single "Alpine thing" — it's a patchwork, and you pick what fits your day.
The flagship sits in the Bavarian Forest: the MTB Zone at Geißkopf is seen by many as the cradle of German freeriding, with flow, downhill and northshore across 15-plus trails. Closer to Munich, Bikepark Lenggries on the Brauneck pulls the after-work crowd with its Bavarian A-Line, and in the Allgäu you'll find BikePark Hindelang at the Hornbahn. Want to start small or just spin quick laps? There are pump tracks right in town — for example in Munich's Olympiapark.
Honestly: Bavaria is big, and the drive between two spots can outlast the trail. Plan by region, not by state — that's how you get the most out of it.

Getting there: The south (Lenggries, Oberammergau, Samerberg) is easy from Munich via the A95/A8 — usually about an hour. Bad Hindelang in the Allgäu sits farther west, more like an hour and a half. The Geißkopf in the Bavarian Forest is remote, out east (from Deggendorf). The Frankenjura — Osternohe and the Fränkische Schweiz around Pottenstein — is up north near Nuremberg; the Heumöderntal trailpark near Treuchtlingen, by contrast, sits south of it in the Altmühltal. It's easily three to four hours by car between the corners, so don't try to chain them in a day.
Best time: The lift-served parks mostly run May to October/November, often weekends only, and midweek during the Bavarian summer holidays. Hours and operation vary a lot — check the park's own page before you drive. City pump tracks and skateparks work year-round as long as it's dry.
Bed & shop: The bigger parks have rental, a workshop and a bike wash on site, with lodging in the surrounding resort towns. Munich, Augsburg and Nuremberg have well-stocked shops for spares.
