Updated: 9 June 2026
An MTB holiday needs some planning – after all, you want to spend as much time riding trails as possible and as little time dealing with problems. Our checklist helps you not forget anything important.
1. Choose your spot and destination
Think first: bike park with a lift or trail park? What difficulty level? How many days? Use the Lemoyn map to filter destinations by category and region, and read community reviews. Popular destinations: Saalbach, Leogang, Schladming, Winterberg, Willingen.
2. Book accommodation
Best to stay at a bike-friendly hotel or hut near the spot. On Lemoyn you can see on every spot page which hotels and accommodation are within 15km. Many offer bike wash stations, storage and tools.
3. Check your equipment
Bike (get it serviced first!), helmet, pads, MTB shoes, pack with hydration, puncture kit, multi-tool, first aid. For bike parks with jumps: knee and elbow pads. Camera optional but recommended.
4. Insurance
Sports insurance with MTB cover makes sense – especially for trips abroad. Mountain rescue can be expensive. Some credit cards include accident insurance – check the terms beforehand.
5. Travel and logistics
Bike transport by car: check rear or roof rack, secure the bike. By train: some trains have bike carriages. On location: plan for public lifts, shuttles or a hire car for spot-hopping.
